“Strong families working in partnership with the school as advocates for academic success will create an environment where every child has the opportunity to learn the basic skills and habits of the mind that promote lifelong learning, civic participation and personal development.” As most of you know, we had to quarantine several classes this week because COVID-19 tests were positive in students. For the safety of all, especially in the period of increasing cases, we decided to start weekly testing of students at the Academy. When students are tested every week, it reduces the number of students we have to quarantine. In order for us to test your child, you must complete the online consent form. Your participation means that if your child is exposed to someone with COVID-19, they can stay in school with a negative test. However, if you do not participate, we will need to quarantine your child for 10 days. Please participate by completing the online consent form or by sending your principal an email for a printed form. Our program includes a bilingual model in which students learn both Spanish and English. The aim is to enable students to achieve a high level of functional knowledge in two languages and to promote understanding and appreciation of the cultures represented by the languages they are learning. The main goal is to teach students language and reading skills that will enable them to function effectively in their personal and professional lives. We believe that the development of literacy will foster the love of learning to read and then the competence of reading for learning.
LeadershipWe believe there is a strong correlation between academic success and effective and consistent leadership. As a result, our Board of Directors is made up of parents, alumni and community stakeholders who provide valuable oversight and focus on creating and maintaining policies that support our students and their families. Our administrative structure consists of a director and three directors who manage day-to-day operations and discipline. The leadership of the faculty ranks is also very evident, as teachers improve the curriculum and serve as mentors to inexperienced educators. Our goal is to work with many individuals and organizations to provide the resources needed to improve and enrich the lives of our students, both during the day and in our extended day and extended years programs. The quality and breadth of our Community Partnership Program is unique. We work with a variety of local private schools, volunteers for parents and the community, and organizations that offer on-site programs. We believe that when parents are actively involved in their children`s education, students have a better chance of succeeding academically.
At LFDCS, parents must actively participate in the education of their children. Parents are members of our Board of Directors, participate in training programs designed to help them work from home with their children, volunteer in the classroom and on field trips, and participate in fundraising initiatives. All parents sign a contract that has high expectations for their participation both at school and at home. After consulting with medical experts and state health authorities, DESE Commissioner Jeffrey C. Riley extended the requirement to wear a mask for schools on 26.10.21 until at least January 15, 2022. DESE will continue to work with medical experts and state health officials to assess the mask requirement beyond January 15. On December 27, 2021, the CDC shortened the isolation and quarantine periods to 5 days after exposure to COVID-19, followed by 5 days of wearing a mask. Thanks to you, we have raised $5,741 for scholarships for LFDCS graduates!!! Note: The new arrival time for students is now 7:30 am. Please drop students off no earlier than 7:30 a.m. The CDC still strongly advocates vaccination as the best defense against COVID-19. Amarilys is a parent at the twin academy in 1st year! Thank you very much, and we wish you a safe and happy Christmas season.
When students are assessed each week, the number of students we have to quarantine is reduced. In order for us to assess your child, you must complete the online consent form. Your participation means that if your child is exposed to someone with Covid-19, they can stay in school with a negative test. However, if you do not participate, we will need to quarantine your child for 10 days. Therefore, your child can participate by completing the online consent form or by sending an email to the director to receive a printed form. Thank you very much and I wish you a good and safe holiday. .
